We are on a total high right now, you guys! The Kick-Off Event for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man/Woman of the Year Campaign was Wednesday night and it was SO powerful. We heard testimonies from all of the candidates about why they chose to accept the nomination, the Girl of the Year’s story (not one dry eye in the entire room during this story I promise), and a handful of challenges from staff and previous candidates to raise, raise, raise money.

One of the most striking things from that night was the sincere passion that filled the room. Everyone there was so excited about the work LLS is doing. It’s amazing! If you have time, please check out their website to read up on some of the incredible strides they’re making to CURE cancer. Although their focus is blood cancers, they are also finding that some of those drugs and treatment therapies are translating over to curing other cancers like bone and breast cancer. That means WE MAY ACTUALLY SEE A CURE FOR CANCER IN OUR LIFETIME! Wouldn’t that be fantastic?

The ladies here at Reflections of You, by Amy all agree how very thankful we are to play some part in this campaign. We ask ourselves–and encourage you to do the same–“in whose honor do we make this contribution?” A lot of us donate money because our families are healthy and what a huge blessing that is. Others are giving because they have a family member or friend who is suffering from some form of cancer or, sadly, has already passed. Hopefully, many give in honor of survivors or are survivors themselves! All the reasons are good enough to give money, and thus HOPE, to other families, friends and survivors who are currently battling cancer! It’s a long and treacherous battle, but thankfully, LLS is making the fight a little easier. They’re saving lives, families and futures! They can’t do it without us, though!

Please watch the video below and visit their website. This quote is awesome: “You never know which dollar is going to be the dollar that finds the cure.”  If you feel led to give, we have plenty of ways to accommodate you! 🙂
