1. Where are you from? How long have you lived in Louisville?

I’m originally from St. Louis, MO, but have lived in Louisville a little over 17 years. We moved here for my husband’s work.

2. What is your favorite thing to do in Louisville?

I like getting out to Beckley Creek Park with my family and our dogs. We love taking our dogs to the dog park, going on hikes with the boys and just being together as a family. When we have the chance, we also like trying new restaurants. But we really enjoy relaxing with friends at Village Anchor. You can typically find us at The Sea Hag downstairs!

3. What is your favorite thing about working at ROYBA/as an interior designer/stager?

I think the variety. Every job and client is different. Plus, I get to meet such a vast number of people! I love helping our clients achieve the look they’re wanting in their home, getting to know them and making their personality shine through the home.

4. What inspires you?

Our team, especially Amy, and her plans for our company inspire me. Then there’s the experts in the field I work with, whether that be a flooring specialist or window treatment guru, who’s talent  and creativity inspire me to really kick my game to the next level.

5. Would you like to mention something specific about your family?

I’ve been married 22 years to my wonderful husband, Dan. We have two boys:

Holton, who’s 18 and starting college at the University of Alabama (my alma mater!) and Matthew, who’s 14, starting high school at Christian Academy of Louisville.

6. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love (oil) painting, spending time with friends-from my “coffee group girls,” to bible study group and book club, watching Alabama football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball (I’m a big sports fan!) and, of course, spending time with family.

7. What is your dream travel destination?

Greece. It is so gorgeous with the amazing white buildings against that blue sea backdrop…I can’t wait! I’m hoping to go for our 25th anniversary!!

8. (Stolen from SB Louisville) Three things you could not live without besides God, family and friends.

– Starbucks iced double shot

– Good pair of cute (and comfortable!) shoes

– Alabama football

9. What is your favorite/most rewarding project you’ve done since working at ROYBA?

There have been so many! Every single one is rewarding and different in a new way. I will say that staging is short term rewarding in that you’re helping clients move to the next phase of their life. Design is long term because it involves relationship building. I love both!

Homearama 2012 is probably on the top of my list because it was my first project. I had just joined the company and got to utilize both staging and design right out of the gate!

One of my most rewarding projects was definitely Dayton Avenue. We went into this former rental property, gave every room a fresh coat of paint, put the right, updated furniture in there and it completely transformed the house so that it sold in a couple of weeks! We took a tired old house and made it fresh and lovely for a new family.

10. Finally, what is your “life bible verse?”

That’s really hard because so much of scripture has such great meaning in my life, but the first one that comes to mind is 2 Timothy 1:7:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

It reminds me of my dad and his strength. He was always encouraging us to use our mind and move forward in life, but to rest in the Lord and not be fearful.

Thank you, Jennifer, for bringing such joy to our team every single day!
