Gail Head Shot Gail Deye, Staging/Design Associate

I started working for ROYBA in the fall of 2013, I think. Maybe October?

  1. Where are you from? How long have you lived in Louisville?

I was born and raised in Louisville. I attended high school at Sacred Heart Academy. I have a Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School and graduated with highest honors. I have been married for 30 years in October 2016. I have 4 beautiful children–3 girls and a boy–ranging in age from 26 to 13.

  1. What is your favorite thing about Louisville?

My favorite thing about Louisville is that it has all the amenities and vibe of a big city with a small town southern feel. I loved that if you talk to someone long enough, you can always find a connection to them. The people here are always so friendly and nice. The restaurant scene is one of the best in the country!

  1. What is your favorite thing about working at ROYBA/as Professional Stager/Interior Decorator?

My favorite thing about working at ROYBA is the people I work for and the people I work with. We have a wonderful team of talented, caring, strong women. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a dynamic group. Amy has been a friend and inspiration for such a long time. She is someone that I strive to emulate both in the work environment and in my personal life. Our team is very supportive of one another and always willing to listen, cheer, or pitch in to help when needed.

  1. What inspires you?

I am inspired by our team and their willingness to go the extra mile for our clients. We truly care about each project and put our best efforts into each one. It is truly amazing to stand back with the team and awe over what we have accomplished in a project!

  1. Would you like to mention something specific about your family?

My family is my pride and joy. We enjoy so many activities together. We have both a lake house and a boat on the Ohio that we enjoy together as a family. We all enjoy the outdoors and the water. We have 2 rescue dogs, a lab/shepherd mix and a lab/golden mix. I have recently added a “granddog” when my daughter adopted a rescue dog.

Three of my children are now in Lexington. Sarah, my oldest lives there and is the Manager of Special Events at Keeneland. Elizabeth is a senior at UK majoring in Special Education. Emma is a freshman at UK and Jackson is in the 7th grade at St. Albert the Great. He plays club soccer as did Emma so we are a soccer family!

  1. What do you like to do in your spare time?

As I’ve already said, I enjoy the outdoors and boating. I also enjoy family time like game night and I love to read. I enjoy working out also.

  1. What is your dream travel destination?

I love to travel! I would love to travel all over Europe. I used to work for a French company and worked in France so I would really love to return there someday. I also would love to visit all states in the US. I saw on Facebook a route that would travel throughout the US for 360 days staying at 70 degrees. That would be a fun year!!

  1. (Stolen from SB Louisville) Three things you could not live without besides God, family and friends.

My work – I love to be creative and have a sense of fulfillment

Laughter – Life’s best medicine

Food and Drink – To celebrate with my family and friends

  1. What is your favorite/most rewarding project you’ve done since working at ROYBA?

My favorite and most rewarding project thus far would be the Harrods Bridge Way condo. After we finished that project, the team just sat there and enjoyed the beauty. The builder/developer was perhaps a bit skeptical at first, but was extremely happy with the finished product. It’s so wonderful to have a satisfied client!

10.  Finally, what is your “life Bible verse?”

I have two, actually! Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
